Golden Star Resources is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is engaged in gold mining and exploration. Co.'s 90.0% owned subsidiary Golden Star (Bogoso/Prestea) Ltd owns and operates the Bogoso/Prestea gold mining and processing operation (Bogoso/Prestea) in Bogoso, Ghana. Co.'s 90.0% owned subsidiary Golden Star (Wassa) Ltd owns and operates the Wassa gold mine east of Bogoso/Prestea. Co. also holds interests in several gold exploration projects in Ghana and other parts of West Africa, and in South America, Co. holds and manages exploration properties in Brazil.
