Lombard Medical is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is engaged in developing, manufacturing, and marketing endovascular stent-grafts that address significant unmet needs in the repair of aortic aneurysms. Co.'s product, Aorfix, is the only abdominal aortic aneurysm, or AAA, stent-graft approved by the FDA for the treatment of AAAs with angulation at the neck of the aneurysm from 0 to 90 degrees. Aorfix is a two-part modular implant comprising a bifurcated main body section and a (contralateral) plug-in leg. An AAA is a balloon-like enlargement of the aorta in the abdominal cavity which, if left untreated, may rupture. Most ruptured AAAs are fatal.
